Townhome Oasis

Before photo of a house with overgrown front landscaping, a worn concrete path, and a boring monoculture lawn.

Before

Beautiful no-lawn backyard in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle featuring permeable gravel pathways with stone steps, lush native plants, and a pergola made from reclaimed timber.

A deeper look

Small but mighty. A unique property nestled in the Captiol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It is a single lot that was broken into two. Size was definitely a challenge in this space.

Our client wanted to have a good blend between indoor and outdoor living. Privacy was a concern so instead of redoing an entire fence, we settled on privacy panels. The panels will eventually support a shade sail that will cool the space and also stop plums from staining the orginal concrete patio.

We expanded the patio for additional seating room, working with the space. A vine maple from our headquarter garden found its new home on site and will eventually restore some shade. Along the side we planted an herb garden.

This project shows a space is never too small to work with. We love a tiny space because it is so realistic when buying a home in the city.
